Nic & Lisa: From Liberty Village to Oakwood Village

Nic and Lisa were referred to Jody by her good friends Molly & Michelle. Lisa’s first introduction to Jody was at their Halloween party, which Jody attended wearing a giant beaver costume…and they still hired her.

Two years ago, Lisa had joined Nic in his Liberty Village condo, which is an interesting two-storey loft unit previously featured here.

“We wanted something with a little more space and privacy, as well as a yard,” Nic said. “We knew the Toronto market conditions meant we would probably have to compete, and we were prepared for it to take a while to find our house.”

They began their search in April of this year, knowing they needed to secure a new home first, and then sell their existing condo. Lisa was familiar and comfortable with the west end, and Nic needed to keep his work commute to Mississauga reasonable.

To their amazement, they had that “this is our home” feeling right out of the gate when Jody took them to see the lovely 2+1 bed/2 bath home at 281 Harvie Avenue in the Caledonia-Fairbank area.

They put forth their best offer with over half a dozen other buyers, and even improved their initial offer when asked to, but the house sold for $100,000+ over the asking price to someone else. Their bid came in second place.

“When we got the news, I was so heartbroken that I had to walk away to compose myself,” Lisa said, grimacing at the memory, “but we knew it was unusual to find something so quickly.”

Nic & Lisa were happily surprised when Jody found them another house in the same area just a couple of weeks later. They were already booked to view several properties, and Jody tacked on this brand-new listing they had not even pre-screened. It was a beautiful little fully-renovated detached house, with 2+1 bedrooms, 2 baths, finished basement, and professionally-landscaped back yard.

There was no offer date, and they decided to act quickly. Jody prepared a firm offer for just slightly over the asking price later the same day…and the house was theirs!

“We know we got lucky, but we also knew we were in good hands,” Lisa said. “Jody was knowledgeable, trustworthy, and bluntly honest with us the whole way. We also knew she genuinely cares about her clients.”

Glad I could help you find your way home guys!
