World Pride 2014

One of the many reasons to love and take pride in the great city of Toronto is its support of the LGBT community. This year the annual Pride celebrations will be bigger than ever as Toronto hosts World Pride from June 20-29. As you can see, preparations have already begun to bring a festive feel to Church Street!
One new event that has been added for Pride week this year is Nuit Rose, a night to celebrate the many talented LGBT artists in Toronto. Taking place from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, the public can view exceptional exhibits and performance art in the Church-Wellesley Village and Queen Street West. There is even a free “Art Bus” available between 8pm and 1am to shuttle you to the various venues!
As many people in my life know, seniors have always held a special place in my heart, and I’ve worked as a volunteer with the elderly for several years. I love that World Pride will include events for the mature/senior population, such as a BBQ and community fair at the Sunshine Seniors Centre on Ward’s Island. I’ve been to the centre before, and the wonderful employees and volunteers do excellent work there.
