The 6th Annual National Garage Sale for Shelter will be held across the country on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Last year, Royal LePage offices held more than 140 Garage Sales, raising more than $375,000 to help women and children staying at local shelters.

The statistics for family violence and violence against women are staggering: 51% of Canadian women will experience at least one assault in their lifetime, and 360,000 children are exposed to domestic violence each year.  The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and programs.  Additional information is available on the Stories of Hope website.

I’m proud to report that my office at Bloor & Dufferin raised over $3,000 last year during the one-day event. Leading up to the big day, we invite clients and friends to spring clean and donate any unwanted items to the sale, with 100% of the proceeds going to our local women’s shelter. I’ve already collected a truck full of items this past week and am available to come and collect anything you would like to contribute.  I hope you can join me on the big day at 1060 Bloor St. West, and I promise to grill you a mean hot dog or burger! 🙂
